Let It Be

I love the Beatles! I like that they have fun music that also sends a message.
Growing up I heard my parents say, "pick your fights" so many times. They always said that if something happens that really is not worth arguing over to just let it go. When Paul McCartney wrote the song let it be he had his mom in mind as well. When he was asked where the inspiration for this song came from he said that he thought of his mom, Mary, who died when he was a young teenager. The songs starts with, "When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom, Let it be." By saying Mother Mary he really refers to his own mother Mary. At the time that this song was coming out the band itself was falling apart. The band ended trying to show everyone that even through the band had been through a lot they were just going to let it go and move on.
The message that I think the Beatles were trying to get across in this song is that even when you do go through times of trouble and things are hard there is still hope so just let it be. When I listen to this song I think of my own parents and the advise they gave me. Whenever i feel like something is a huge deal this song runs through my head and I try to just let it be!

Let It Be:

When I find myself in times of trouble, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree,
there will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is still a chance that they will see,
there will be an answer. let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....

And when the night is cloudy, there is still a light, that shines on me,
shine until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music, mother Mary comes to me,
speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be, .....

  1. This was one of my favorite Beatle's songs. I like the spin you put on it, that you need to "pick your battles," because I had never thought about that before. I also think that the idea that we have to choose which battles we are going to fight is important, because if we tried to fight for everything we wanted or believed in we would be overwhelmed.

  2. Beetles, eh? I like this song, particularly when I want to escape from life. Only, not with the assistance of LSD, like them!

  3. This is a great song. I have trouble being able to pick my battles and listening to songs like this are things that make me realize that I can't always be as stubborn as I am.
