Richard Rhodes destroys many popular arguments that media violence causes an increase in crime, child violence, and/or adult violence in
The Media Violence Myth by utilizing extensive loaded diction, excessive lampooning, and a library of statistics to create a dual appeal to logic and emotion to convince the reader that media violence does not, in fact, cause real violence and may even prevent it.
I understand the concept of your thesis, which is good, but perhaps if you reworded it, it would flow a bit better. May I make a suggestion (take it or leave it- for all I know, I could be totally off):
ReplyDeleteRichard Rhodes destroys the popular argument that media violence causes an increase in adolescent aggression by utilizing extensive diction, excessive lampooning, and a library of statistics to create a dual appeal to logic and emotion in convincing the reader that the media does not cause and may even prevent real-life violence.
Otherwise, your tools are well stated and very powerful.
Love the word "lampooning." Also "library of statistics." Excellent components in this thesis; I'll be interested to read your analysis.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I much enjoy what you've come up with, McKaylee has some good tips for smoother wording; so if this were facebook I would "like" her comment.
Also love the word "lampooning" and the comment about facebook liking. I would have "liked" your comment Mrs. Roper!
ReplyDeleteI was struggling with the wording! Thank you much!!!
