IP Topic

My topic is the ineffectiveness of the MPAA and its enforcement or lack thereof, and the changing standards of movie rating guidelines over the years.

  1. Yes i definitely agree with this and i would look at how much they have changed over the years and look at the ratings from the early 90's to the ratings now a days.

  2. Do you have any suggestions for an alternate rating system? I think a lot of people agree it's changed: what's an even newer stance on this issue you could change?

  3. Make sure you define what is ineffective. We all have disagreements with the MPAA, are you taking any specific stances, or just against ratings as a whole?

  4. Yeah, it's ridiculous. And the best part is that there are several sites documenting the exact contents, word count, etc of movies, and you can essentially watch the standards dramatically decrease over time by looking up movies. I've seen dozens of PG-13s that should be R and vice versa. It's pretty annoying and unpredictable.

  5. Watch out for your own bias. You've obviously got an opinion already.

  6. Wow, people commented while I was writing mine. Yes, Ms. Roper, I think that a newly defined rating system is necessary. And I think the prophet immediately coming out and telling members a good place to set the bar (though NO ONE listens to the no R-movies counsel) is also important if it occurs.
