My Wish-Rascal Flatts
And each road leads you where you want to go
And if you're faced with the choice and you have to choose
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you
And if one door opens to another door closed
I hope you keep on walkin' ?til you find the window
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile
But more than anything, more than anything
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish
I hope you never look back but you never forget
All the ones who love you and the place you left
I hope you always forgive and you never regret
And you help somebody every chance you get
Oh, you'd find God's grace in every mistake
And always give more than you take
But more than anything, yeah more than anything
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish, yeah yeah
My wish for you
Is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
I hope you know somebody loves you
And wants the same things too
Yeah, this is my wish
(My wish for you)
This is my wish
(My wish for you)
I hope you know somebody loves you
(My wish for you)
May all your dreams stay big
(My wish for you)
I love this song so much and am listening to it as I am writing this...for inspiration of course! But I definitely have no idea how to analyze it. This song reminds me of what a parent would wish for their child. They want their child to have everything work out for the best and that all their choices are good ones. It seems like it is kind of a progression of life. From the beginning it talks about making choices and opening doors which is the beginning of growing up and being on your own. Then it proceeds to never forget the ones that loved you and the place you left, continuing to move on. Throughout the song, the chorus talks about dreams staying big and worries staying small. And hoping that you know somebody loves you. It is kind of a coming of age, growing up and moving on song. The emotional appeal is very strong in this song, especially for me because my parents dedicated this song to me when I left for college. So whenever I miss them, I play this song and it reminds me that they want the best for me and they are trusting that I will live my life to the fullest and do what's right. I think the song appeals to all audiences because it is just about living your dreams and living a good life. I don't really know what else to say that is analytical about the song. But it's a great song, and I encourage everyone to listen to it :)
I love that we are both in love with Rascal Flatts!! We're the coolest. haha I definitely love your song choice too. I love this song and how it helps us to think about loved ones, and about becoming better than we are, as well as wishing it for others.
ReplyDeleteI love this song too! My favorite part is when they say, "And while you're out there gettin' where you're gettin' to
ReplyDeleteI hope you know somebody loves you." Especially while I am at university this helps me to remember my family back at home :)
I am not a big country fan but my parents always listened to this. This song makes me think of Stake dances back at home, well the slow dance part. I have never thought about the words too much but they are pretty powerful, especially since all us college kids are on our own and at one point knew almost no one out here.
ReplyDeleteI love this song and Flatts! I went to their concert this summer and it was amazing. This song is indeed very inspirational. This song can apply to anybody at many different phases in their life, which is why I think that it is such a popular song.
