Week 3 Beehive State
Who new that on of the best states in our nation would be the 45th? I'm sure when William McKinley the signed Utah into the Union he had a good feeling about it. I have lived in Utah my whole life. I was born here, grew up here, and now i go to college here. There are a lot of people that go to BYU that are from all across the nation. And when they find out that I am from Utah they seem disappointed in a way. When I question their reaction they say "Utah sucks". Well all you Californians with your ocean, Texas people with your Cowboys, Nevadans with your Vegas, and you east cost people with your diversity this is why Utah is right up their in your categories. Utah is a great place to live for multiple different reasons. First off all being a member of the LDS faith it is very nice to live with people who have the same values of yourself. The people here are nice and it has to be one of the safest state in the US. Utah has great food as well. Their are so many restaurants here started by people that have a strong passion for food. And Utah has made itself a regular place to be visited by Food Networks renowned TV series Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. I would not be giving Utah justice if I did not give a shout out to the Utah Jazz, the best NBA team in the league. There is a reason why Utah has consistently been one of the hardest places for opposing teams to come and win. Utahans LOVE there Jazz basketball. Utah is home to one of the biggest rivalries in all of college football, the Holy War. BYU vs Utah, has been a great rivalry for over 92 games. Utah has many great things to offer but probably at the top of this list is the great outdoors. Utah is home to some of the best recreation on the planet. Just look at our licence plates, The Greatest Snow on Earth. Its no wonder that the 2002 Olympics were held in Salt Lake City. Utah has lakes, canyons, national parks, mountains, snow, hiking, camping, rock climbing, fishing, hunting, and much more that are in the top of there areas. I love the city life but it is so nice to be able to drive just 30 min up the canyons and you feel like you are in a different world. So if you are a person that has a passion for sports, recreation, or friendly people Utah is the place for you.

I'm an east coasterners. Utah has been quite a culture shock for me in both positive and negative ways. I do agree its nice to be around so many with such high standards, but at the same time, you hit it right on the head when you said that east coasterners are accustomed to diversity. Perhaps its my own personal bias, but I don't find much of that out here or at the very least, as much diversity as I am used to. That in no regard makes living in Utah a detriment of any sort, just different in many aspects. I can definitely see why you love it so much though. It is great for many religious, recreational etc. reasons.
ReplyDeleteI am a total Texas girl! I absolutely love everything about it! The weather, the community, football, and much more. However, I am slowly learning to love Utah also. It is great being around people with most of the same morals and being able to attend an amazing university. Although, there is one thing I loathe about Utah: SNOW. Scraping the ice off of my toyota is not enjoyable. Especially when it takes me thirty minutes to do it. It is not exactly my cup of tea. I do admit the snow is good for one thing.. sledding and snowboarding :) Utah has a lot of that to offer thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE UTAH!! I also have lived here my whole life. There really is so much to love here. I find it so frustrating when people say they don't like Utah when it has so much to offer. A lot of the time I think people come to school here and think that all of Utah is just like Provo, and they could not be more wrong. Thank you for sharing all of the wonderful things about Utah!
