Week 3- Percolator

My favorite word of all time is the word percolator. Yes, I know it is an odd word to love, but I do love it. It’s just something about how it sounds. I think it sounds neat. Whenever I heard the word percolator, it makes me think of the song “It’s Time for the Percolator”. I love this song and I think it is humorous, which attributes to why I have an inclination for this word. The word percolator also reminds me of Yellowstone because when I was there a few weeks ago I saw a hot-pot named The Percolating Pot. I thought it was used well in this context. It was a cool and catchy name and it provided an accurate description of the hot-pot. The word percolator means to brew. This was a perfect use of the word because the water in the hot-pot was boiling and bubbling.
This word is so striking to me because whenever I hear it I can just picture something boiling and steaming; whether it be a mysterious mixture in a cauldron, a potion being prepared in the dungeons at Hogwarts, or stew simmering on the stove on a cold winter day. If this word had a smell it would be the smell of soup cooking on the stove. The kind of scent that you smell the second you open the door and that instantly fills you with warmth. If the word percolator had a taste it would be the taste of this soup simmering on the stove and if it had a texture it would be thick and creamy.
The experiences that I connect with this word are my trips to Yellowstone and seeing the bubbling hot-pots and smelling the stench of sulfur. It reminds me of my many family trips to Yellowstone which I remember fondly. I also connect drinking hot chocolate with the word percolator. When I was younger I lived in Minnesota. In the winters I would play outside for hours and upon going inside I would always make myself hot chocolate. I would stand by the stove and watch the water because I loved to watch for the first bubble to float to the surface of the water and then to watch the rolling bubbles as the water continued to heat up.
