My ugly little Pug Cooper is the most adorable thing on this planet. Most would think that you cannot be cute and ugly, but they would be wrong. He reminds me of the Grinch on the Jim Carey’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas, the Grinch was so ugly that he was cute as a baby and little boy, Cooper is just like that.
The first day I saw this blob of fat was when I was around ten. My brother walked into a pet store to get food for his other animals when he saw a closed off area with little baby pugs. My brother ran out yelling to us to get in there as fast as we could. Our eyes all were drawn to one particular dog in the back. He was definitely not the runt of the liter. This little one starred up at us and you could tell that all he wanted was to be held. Picking him up, he licked my mom’s face then fell asleep on her shoulder. This was our dog. My mom always wanted another pug after our other pug Webster was stolen, and this one was perfect. He would be our new doormat, lazy but still fun.
Our little puppy was so small that he had to hop through the grass to get around, while his big fat belly dragged on the ground. He was terrified of every new toy we bought him. He would growl at it for hours before he would even get near enough to it to smell it. His little bark is so high pitched it just makes me laugh. Even now as he is going to turn eight, or fifty-six in human years, he acts like a puppy. He barks his little bark and will not go to the door unless someone is going with him. (He is an awful guard dog.) He will also chase you all over the house if he is not tired. He still looks like a puppy which makes him as cute as ever. I find that pugs are just plain out ugly when they get old, not my little baby Cooper. He will always be cute and cuddly. He is a bigger pug, not just his stomach but his legs as well. He is tall and thicker, he is not as small as pugs usually are. Everything about Cooper makes him unique. The way he looks, acts, and snores really loudly when he sleeps. I love him to death. He is my family’s baby.
I'm kinda shocked you thought the Grinch was cute. Concerning your dog, I'd have to say I have thoroughly annoyed with dogs that will bark at everything and not stop. It sounds like your dog doesn't bark all the time, although it is a high pitched bark. As for myself, I had a cat once, it died. I don't think Ill get another pet. They're kinda bothersome. Although, I appreciate that you like yours.
ReplyDeleteYour dog sounds awesome. My dog is the same in so many ways. Especially the barking all the time thing, which is rather irritating. But you put up with it because you love them. Also, my dog is ugly too, yet she is still cute. It' weird how it works. Because they are ugly it makes them somewhat pathetic and at the same time more endearing.
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh, mostly because I have never thought that pugs were cute, and I don't think that I ever will no matter what anybody says. I love how you compared it to the Grinch though, that is so random but it sounds like a perfect description! I really respect how much you love your dog. It makes me wish that I could appreciate dogs more. I have such a strong aversion to them that I don't think that what people say will make me like them any better.
ReplyDeleteI love that you talk about ugly things being cute; the Grinch comparison is a great example. Even though this isn't logical, you show through pathos (him as a puppy falling asleep on your mom's shoulder--also all his quirky personality traits) that he's loveable anyway. You do a great job of this.
ReplyDeleteThough it seems that even though you have convinced us how much you love Cooper, maybe each of us individually aren't quite convinced yet. I guess we'd just have to meet him.
