l love the word super! Everything about it just makes me smile. The way it sounds in a sentence and the extra “umph” it gives to a word is super awesome. Definition: very good or pleasant; excellent (informal). I like the idea that it is a casual word. It is a word that may be used for fun, anytime or anywhere.
I have seen this word used many times, but mainly in speech rather than in writing. In formal papers I have hardly ever seen the word super appear on the page. However, in a personal narrative or story it is completely necessary to have words like super in the paper. It jazzes the paper up and makes it more interesting because of the personality jumping off of the page.
I have adopted this as my favorite word since last August. It was when I was talking to one of my good friends. Every three or four words she was spitting out the word super. I soon learned to love it. My new love fore it especially came about because of the kind of person she is. Bubbly, sweet, kind-hearted, and an honorable friend. I thought that maybe if I used this word I could be more like her and hopefully gain the attributes that she has. I am not sure if it is working, but I do love the word. I feel that it gives a more positive tone to a conversation. I love people who are optimistic and those who are most of the times use this word!
If this word had a smell I would imagine it to be the sweet smell of Chance Chanel. This is my absolute favorite perfume. It smells like flowers on a sunny day which reminds me of happiness. It is a sophisticated smell which reminds me of my friend. So both of these things remind me of the word super. The taste would be of a juicy, crunchy apple that is the perfect color of pink and green mixed. The texture reminds me of silk: simply flawless and smooth.
Super is a flawless word that can be used in many different situations. Whether in a classroom, on a piece of paper, or hanging out on the beach on a bright, sunny day. I love the word super and will continue to use it forever. :)
I understand what you were saying about the word super but as it pertains to me personally, I only like this word when its used in certain acceptable contexts. I'm not a fan of when super is used as its own descriptor- "Super", but I think it works when people use super before an adjective- "That was super fun". I know that sounds picky, just my personal preference I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI agree you can add super in any case. The word gives character to what you are trying to say. I think that there are only certain people who use this word though. No boy or person over the age 20 should use this word in my opinion! But, I think since we don't fit in that category we should say it as much as we want!
ReplyDeleteHey that was a super blog post. I have a friend that always says that and she is super too so it fits the situation well.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of words do you mean when you said words like "super" that jazz up a paper and show personality?
ReplyDeleteI have a funny story to go with this word. At the dinner table people would say "freakin'" and "dang" as adjectives, and then someone requested that people stop using those words so much. I don't remember whose idea it was, but then a joke was to replace those words with "super." So it's like super was a nicer euphemism than "freakin'" and "dang." It definitely has a very more positive, friendly vibe to it than "freakin"' and "dang," which imply anger or frustration of the speaker. So, super is a nice harmonious word for conversation! It disguises the anger pretty well when used in place of "dang," etc. :)
