My only concern with this topic might be length--make sure you have enough specifics to create a 3-5 page paper. I'd start by brainstorming with a whole list of things that shut down during devotional. Maybe even do some research--talk to people who know. Then think about why they do those things. Then think of personal experiences or experiences from friends that you perhaps feel were unwarranted, and can give you some material to build an argument against so much being shut down during devotional. If that gives you enough to work with, great! Otherwise you'll want to find a way to expand the topic.
