Week 3: Greatest Game Ever Played
I am the kind of guy who likes the simpler things in life. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy. Call me an old man if you want, but I love activities that older men seem to enjoy. Particularly such activities as golf and fly-fishing. I realize that I am not a middle aged man yet, but I figure why wait to experience these awesome things when I can enjoy them now! Let's examine golf in particular. Golf could be the greatest game ever played. This sport is about ninety percent mental, and ten percent physical. So much thought is required in order to have a good golf round. Where you want to place your ball, what club to hit, and reading greens are some important aspects to the game. I love the outdoors so this sport fits me well. There is no better time in a man's life when he is outside on a nice relaxing sunny day, sipping on a Coke, laughing with his buddies on the links. Truly magnificent. Golf is a social game. It can be used for strictly business matters or just for reuniting and catching up with old friends. Many aspects of the game are seen in everyday life that helps one grow. Responsibility, respect, perseverance, timing, and honesty are learned on the course that later transfers into life. Not only do I enjoy playing golf, but I also love to watch it on T.V. It is one of my favorite things to do on a nice Sunday afternoon. I love to get home from church and turn on golf. I watch it for about an hour, and soon fall asleep. This way I work in a lovely Sunday nap. After a while, I wake up and the leaders are just finishing up the last few holes. I continue watching the excitement of the major tournament and then eat dinner. What a PHENOMENAL day! Gosh I love Sunday's. Finish up a nice church session and then go home and watch my favorite player, Phil Mickelson win the tournament. Another reason to like golf is because of some of the classy guys you get on the tour. Now, I realize that there are some major exceptions to this case with recent events involving a guy named Tiger. However, some of the guys you watch on the tour are class acts and have been great role models for me in my life such as Phil Mickelson. Seeing this guy win the Masters and then proceed to hug his three little girls and cancer stricken wife would warm any one's heart. Golf is a great game that everyone can benefit from and I'm so thankful to have the opportunity to enjoy it.

I totally agree with this blog all except the part about watching golf. I love to play 9 holes with my friends and family, but I find it very hard to watch on T.V. Golf is a great game that you can play your whole life.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy watching golf, but am not particularly talented on the course. It makes it that much more excited for me to watch a pro drain a thirty-five foot putt when I know that half of the time I will miss from anything farther than five feet. Watching the Major Tournaments are some of my favorite sports events, and I am always sure to watch the final round to see who is crowned the champion.
ReplyDeleteI love that you love golf and fly fishing. My dad loves fishing so I have grown up around that sort of stuff. Those are the coolest things to love.
ReplyDeleteI used to really love golf...but then I got to tall and I'm not sure if they make clubs in my size :-/
ReplyDeleteI love golf. It's sweet cause if you don't have tons of time but still want to go and relax you can go to the range. It's interesting that you like watching it on TV though, you must have a lot more patience than me.
