Week 3 - The Beatles are the Best Band!

Do your parents ever listen to music as they drive you around town while you grudgingly wish you could choose your own music? As you sit there and listen to your parents selection of music, do you ever think, "Wow, this is old people music. Boring!" Instead of just folding your arms and rolling your eyes as a the tune "Hey Jude" starts playing through the speakers, try to take from a different perspective of what The Beatles have set the ground work for future musicians. Granted, everyone likes different things based on preferences, but you can definitely have a deeper appreciation for what some bands have offered. The Beatles I believe is the best band ever created with there ability to create instant classic songs for everyone to enjoy - well that is for most people.

The Beatles earlier years create fun and catchy songs that are entertaining to listen to for leisure enjoyment. You can sing along to songs such as "I want to hold your hand" and "Twist and Shout" getting a sense what your parents were considering cool in those days. And if you were not a huge fan of their corny years, then you can listen to their more laid back "druggie" years; whatever your preference is, The Beatles can offer it to you. Along with their wide selection of music styles, the musicians (Ringo, George, John, and Paul) are very talented with their instruments and with the creativity they conjure up with their songs. Each song almost has a fingerprint that is so identical, that the songs don't just seem to blend in together from each other.

The Beatles may still not seem that appealing for you, but perhaps the next time you scroll through your artists, there is a good chance that The Beatles most likely had a huge influence on them. Maybe as you drive along town with your parents next time, you can start jamming out to "Octopus's Garden" and sing along with Ringo and the entire Beatles Band. Who knows, maybe the band might start growing on you and it might not seem quite so old for you.

  1. I have to admit that every time my parents can sing along to a song on the radio, I know it's an oldie! But really, there are some pretty legit old school songs. I especially love the Beatles as well! They are just a classic! I think everyone should love and appreciate the Beatles as much as you do! good work!

  2. I completely agree with you. I love the Beatles! I went for an eight hour drive with my Mom and little sister and they were the only thing we listened to the whole way. We sang everything from "Hey Jude" for my mom Judy, "Eleanor Rigby" (I'm Father McKenzie haha) for me and "Come Together" for my little eleven year old sister Riley. All the people in my family have a love and appreciation for The Beatles as should everyone. When on American Idol it was Beatles night, my little sister who has Down Syndrome came out and was so upset that the Beatles were not actually on the show. She stormed into her room and turned on her ipod to all of the Beatle's songs for the next hour at least. Their music is just amazing, even Riley knows. I have to say I'm not always in the mood to listen to them, but that goes for every artist. I do listen to them nine out of ten times it comes on when my ipod is set to shuffle though. These guys were geniuses and I thank them for creating such amazing pieces of music.

  3. I've never really been a huge Beatles fan, but everyone makes a huge deal out of them. I don't think they're anything way too out of the ordinary, but your passion and points make it worth giving another try despite my previous mediocre experience. This is good because if there's someone who doesn't yet have an opinion, I think they'll be convinced to give em a try :)

  4. I'm not gonna lie; the first time I heard a Beatles song, I thought "these guys suck, how did they ever get on the radio?" However, over the years I have come to agree with you. The Beatles have grown on me over the years, and lets face it, how can you not love a band that has a song called "I Am the Walrus"?
