It sounds almost other-worldy, doesn't it? Or maybe just from a foreign language; like Bulgarian. I probably only think that because both those words (Bulgarian and Brobdingnagian) sound like big, blue bubbles. Only, Brobdingnagian only looks bubblicious. It actually sounds rather sharp when said aloud. The physical attributes of the word are an oxymoron. I bet this word would look great in bubble letters. It's letters big and round like balloons, while its pronunciation is sharp and straight lie pins. POP!
Wow, what an amazing word. I feel like I could write about it forever.
This word is probably never used in songwriting. I don't think 5-syllable words usually are, unless the writer was trying to sound quirky or something. If somebody wrote a song ABOUT this word, it would probable mention things like how this word sounds like Jell-O and tastes like green Kool-aid. If I were the one writing it, i would sing about how it reminds me of Senior English when I had to do vocabulary reports on three words a week. This is probably due to the fact that I get the sense that I will in no way be able to remember what this word means, let alone the actual word itself.
Holy cow! Three reports a week for a word, that seems a bit ridiculous. Then again, your word is also ridiculous. The whole time I have been trying to think of how to pronounce it but I give up, it truly is a BIG word. I do not understand how words become words, they are just noises our vocal chords make right?
ReplyDeleteHaha that was crazy! I was trying to pronounce the word the whole time! I could never get it, but it was worth a try! Do you know how to truly pronounce it? I think I've either read Gulliver's Travels or seen the movie (if there is one). I can't remember, but it sounds interesting!I liked how you made sure everyone knew it was a fictional word, because at first I thought it was real! :)
ReplyDeleteWait, is this a real word? If so, it is way tight! I wish that I could just throw words like this into my vocabulary, "I had a brobdingnagian sandwich today." Yeah, i don't think that even makes sense. Haha but the word is cool, and maybe some day you will have to teach us how to pronounce it.
ReplyDeleteThat word is hard to say, considering I can't even pronounce purple, I'm not even going to try. However, It is a good looking word and just makes writing roll itself down the page, it should probably be used in almost every sentence ever written.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a neat word. I would type out the word but I don't remember how to spell it. I am also not quite sure how it is pronounced. You'll have to say it after class one day. It is also an ironic word since it is so long and its definition is of extraordinary size. I really like this word. Thanks for sharing!
