I find myself in a very difficult situation. I have a plethora of favorite words; plethora being one of them. I love the word facetiously! How could you not? What other word do you know that has all the vowels in it, and in order! Whoa. It’s almost to much to take in all at once. It was the coolest word to discover from my high school english teacher. There are so many words good enough to be my favorite: inane, abyss, fuddle, farcical, and irascible. However, I used my amazing process of elimination, to come to the conclusion that my favorite word is—farcical.
If you don’t know the meaning of the word it means ridiculously clumsy or resembling a farce; ludicrous. Many of you don’t know me all that well just yet, but know this, that when I say “I am a bit farcical”... it’s completely, honestly, and truly true. I have these strange moments when I am completely clumsy. If anyone is to get caught doing something ridiculous; it would be me. I am often the cause of laughter because I say something opposite of what I mean to, or I don’t say it at all and think I did, or I say something that just doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. In many ways I think my intelligence is the size of a pea. Which is why the word farcical amuses me so much.
If this word had a smell it would be banana cream pie, or maybe lemon meringue. Yes, I am strange; however, there is a method to my style of madness. When I hear the word farcical I picture many clowns running around pulling pranks. So, naturally, pies are involved—most likely banana cream—with extra whip cream on the top. I would love to be a clown and have an excuse for my farcical attitude; running around throwing pies into people’s faces. The best part would be that I’d be a clown and people would laugh at me because I’m supposed to do stuff like that.
This word on a more serious note also reminds me of the movie Life is Beautiful. I can’t count how many times I heard my teacher say that Guido had a farcical attitude. Nevertheless, the connotation with farcical is great because I loved Life is Beautiful. (If you have not yet seen this movie I would definitely recommend you do.)
I can’t forget the main reason I love this word. Last and certainly far from the least because it rhymes with popsicle; you can’t get much better than that. For some strange reason I can’t hear this word and not think of a cold slightly soft popsicle just waiting to be swallowed up. Especially when I am the kind of person who would be fully content to live off popsicles. Just another way the word fits into my life.
Wow this post was spectacular...so many big words! And knowing you, the word farcical is very fitting--especially because it rhymes with popsicle! However, unfortunately now I have the image of clowns running around pulling pranks in my mind, which is unfortunate because I think clowns are creepy! :P
ReplyDeleteYou have a big list of favorite words which makes me believe almost every big word is your favorite. I highly doubt you have the intelligence the size of a pea with all the words you know. I still think Harpoon is the coolest word on the block. By the way you have a really cool writing style.
ReplyDeleteI loved this because:
ReplyDelete-The word you chose fits you perfectly
-Your writing style kept me entertained the entire time and
-I've always loved that you are able to laugh at yourself. Not many people can do that because they take themselves too seriously. Its a special ability... don't lose it.
Anyways great job.
