Ignorant people. I loathe ignorant people. Just to clarify, being out-of-the-loop on some issue doesn't qualify someone as ignorant, in my opinion. To me, ignorant people are people who like to think they know everything about an issue, when really all they know is just what they think. What annoys me the most is when these people fell the need to blabber all of their thought-up nonsense to everyone within earshot. Take politics for example. I am a die-hard Republican. Those of you who are liberals should stop reading now, because you'll probably get all offended by what I say. I don't really care. Anyway, I am very conservative. I can't stand anyone who gets up and starts proclaiming that Obama is the greatest thing since a TV remote, Obama is someone who will really care for us, Obama is our savior, blah blah blah. Obama has next to no political track record, and yet people assume that because he can say "change" in a very emotional way, he is the man who should lead the greatest country in the world. Uh, can you say "ignorance"? I also hate the healthcare topic. Anyone who can stand up and state that a socialized healthcare program is what we need, and that it is the best idea ever, is completely ignorant and probably devoid of common sense altogether. Let's look at the facts for a change. Who will pay for an expensive healthcare system? Mainly businesses. A recent study by the US Small Business Administration's Office of Advocacy found that there are approximately 26.8 million businesses in America. Of those, 98.2% have less than 100 employees and are classified as Small Businesses. During this economic recession, small businesses have suffered the most. Now, our government has created a massive healthcare tax and set it on the shoulders of small business to pay for the healthcare program. Does anyone realize that taxing hard-hit small businesses during a recession is a bad thing? Unfortunately, not enough people do. Why? Because there are too many ignorant idiots running around telling people what they think, without knowing any facts. So the next time you want to tell someone about a great idea, do some research first.
Holy heck. I don't even know where to begin. I feel kind of bad because I think I am slightly ignorant. Not in an obnoxious way, but more a naive way. I don't follow politics. Everything you said about Obama and the health care system pretty much went way over my head. I am so impressed! Even though I don't really understand what you were talking about, I admire you for having such a strong opinion and standing up for it.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate how into politics your are. I am just beginning to understand how that all works but I am definitely a Republican in my values. About the socialized medicine topic, I am against that. It is great and dandy that everyone has healthcare available but I don't want to wait in line forever to be seen by a doctor or pay ludicrously high taxes. I hope Obama can do something beneficial, but I guess he is just pulling us down as a Nation.
ReplyDeleteSo my question is . . . where do you think these opinions come from? What has made you sympathetic to businesses and not to people who might need socialized health care? What about the way you were raised and the experiences you've had make you think this way? And what might make someone of the other persuasion think the way that they do? You mention you don't like ignorant people: my challenge is, make sure that YOU are never ignorant of the other side's perspective. We should always realize where our biases originate so that we aren't blinded by any particular factor.
ReplyDeleteI love your enthusiasm for politics. I am also a conservative and I will talk till the cows come home about politics. I know exactly what you mean when you have someone rubbing Obama in your face, or expanding on a topic and none of it makes any sense.
